When you've recorded an album in a month alongside musicians from all around the world, when you've sweated and freaked out and struggled for 29 days, when you've pushed through and got it all together and finally, breathlessly mailed it off, there is only one thing to do: you have to have a party!
Friday, March 28 is the RPM Global Listening Party, and it's time for you to start planning yours! If you can make it to Portsmouth, NH, then we hope you'll do so -- we're going to have a great time, starting with opening ceremonies at the 800-seat Music Hall at 6:30 pm and then fanning out across town to 6 simultaneous listening parties -- but if you can't come, you should throw your own, or find one near you!
The idea of a listening party is simple: get a bunch of people together and listen to music. Really listen; check out new songs; open your mind and pay attention. It doesn't have to be elaborate -- your house or apartment can be a great place to hold a party! But what makes a REALLY great listening party is one with other RPMers at it, so you can meet, compare notes, shake hands, commiserate, laugh and raise a glass -- and to that end we're going to start listing RPM listening parties here on the site so that RPM participants can sign up to your party!
Thinking about having your own listening party? It's easy! In fact, all you need is a place to have a party!
Even if you've just thought about organizing a party, even if you don't have a place to throw it yet, and you'd like some help pulling things together, we can help get you in touch with other people in your area. To get your party listed, or if you have any questions, e-mail Chris Greiner at
